Position: Group Mentoring Leader
Duration: 35 hours per week for 16 weeks (with flexibility and occasional weekend work)
Start Date: Late April or early May 2025
Pay: $17–$21 per hour

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District, we believe that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. Our mission is to empower youth through mentoring relationships that build confidence, resilience, and brighter futures. We focus on the little things—small moments that make a big difference. Our mentoring programs connect children and youth with positive role models, and the impact is clear: 380 youth are participating in our In School Mentoring programs across local schools in Lacombe County.

Whether it’s tackling challenges together or having fun through engaging activities, our matches help youth build confidence, develop skills, and strengthen their sense of belonging. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District is looking for enthusiastic Group Mentoring Leaders to facilitate engaging youth programs, support events, and connect with the community in a fun and dynamic environment.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking students who are passionate about mentoring, enjoys working with youth, and are eager to develop leadership and event planning skills. If you enjoy being part of a supportive team and thrive in an engaging, fast-paced setting, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Eligibility & Qualifications
To apply, you must:
✔ Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
✔ Be 18 years or older at the start of employment.
✔ Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
✔ Have a satisfactory Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check.
✔ Successfully complete the agency screening process.
✔ Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Group Mentoring Leader, you’ll actively plan and deliver mentoring programs and community initiatives, including:
Leading and supporting group mentoring programs such as:
- Game On! – Focused on healthy lifestyles and positive decision-making.
- Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds – Promoting overall well-being for youth.
- Kids & Kops Summer Mentoring Day Camp – A fun, educational experience connecting youth with law enforcement.
- Assisting with special events, including Walk for Kids’ Sake and other community initiatives.
- Engaging directly with youth and families to foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.
- Promoting programs through social media, marketing, and outreach efforts.
- Providing administrative support, including scheduling, tracking participation, and database management.
- Ensuring programs align with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada National Standards for high-quality mentoring experiences.

Funding
This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. As such, position eligibility, length of employment, and weekly hours may be adjusted based on the provisions approved and funding by this program.
